WELCOME TO THE BVAL WEBSITE!
The Blossom Valley Athletic League is composed of 24 high schools encompassing four public school districts. The league is divided into three divisions named Mt. Hamilton, Santa Teresa, and West Valley. Schools are placed into these divisions based on the strength of each specific sports program. The value of this system is that it provides quality competition. At the end of each season, sport divisions are reassessed and a team can be reassigned based on returning players, success of the lower level programs, coaching changes, etc. The success of this league and the philosophy of power leagues have made the BVAL a model program which has been emulated throughout the United States.
2020-21 ATHLETICS UPDATE – as of 2/22/2021
With county and state guidelines in mind, the BVAL member schools have developed a new calendar, based on county tier colors, that will give our student-athletes the best opportunity to return to competition this school year. As of 2/22/2021, Santa Clara County has authorized outdoor sports to begin competition.
Contact your athletic director for more information.
NOTE: Effective 2/22/2021, the BVAL will be implementing a temporary NO SPECTATOR POLICY for all athletic events. This policy will be re-evaluated when Santa Clara County enters the ORANGE tier:
“In our efforts to help reduce social gathering, the BVAL and its member schools will adopt a “no spectators” policy for ALL athletic events until further notice. The only authorized persons at contests shall be competing players and coaches, necessary administrative personnel, athletic training staff and, where applicable, game officials and scorekeepers (including scoreboard operators) necessary for normal competition operations.”
