BOYS & GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
1. OFFICIAL RULES
A. Volleyball games shall be played in accordance with the rules as defined in the current edition of the National Federation Volleyball Rule Book. (The Board of Managers may authorize modifications of these rules)
2. TEAM CLASSIFICATION
A. Official competition shall be conducted in Varsity and Junior Varsity teams for girls and Varsity and Frosh/Soph for boys. (4-99)
3. LEAGUE REGULATIONS
1. The League champions shall be determined by the results of the double round-robin schedule.
2. The order of play will be determined by each division.
3. The time allowed between matches shall be 30 minutes. (1-16-97)
4. The League champion will be determined by the team with the best record. In the event of a tie, there will be co-champions.
5. Once CCS At-Large teams are selected, seeding will be based on league finish. 5/27/04
Automatic Qualifiers from each division shall be as follows: (1-16-97)
Mt. Hamilton 1st thru 4th place finishers GIRLS
Santa Teresa 1st place finisher
West Valley 1st place finisher
Automatic Qualifiers from each division shall be as follows: (5-22-97)
Mt. Hamilton 1st place finisher only (5/20/02) BOYS
Santa Teresa 1st place finisher
5. Postponement time shall be 45 minutes after scheduled game time.
6. Volleyball matches: 3 out of 5 games for Varsity
2 out of 3 games for Junior Varsity and/or Frosh/Soph
2 out of 3 games for Freshmen
For CCS Seeding Purposes:
Mt Hamilton teams will be seeded above Santa Teresa teams unless they have head to head competition. (5-25-00)
4. GAME LIMITATIONS
1. Each team shall be limited to a maximum of twenty-four (24) contests plus one (1) scrimmage and one (1) non-CIF contest. (5-16-96)
2. A tournament shall be defined as involving athletes from four (4) or more teams. (5-16-96)
a.) If any tournament does not guarantee a minimum number of 3/5 matches, then each day of that tournament shall count as two (2) contests (5-16-96)
3. For purposes of definition a contest is defined as a competitive encounter with another school, or athlete, in which a score is kept. (5-16-96)
GIRLS ONLY -
4. A training session for the purpose of assisting FERMAR officials may be held in August. This must be open to all BVAL member schools. Under these restrictions it will not count as a scrimmage. (4-99)
5. PLAYER REGULATIONS
1. After the League begins, an athlete may not compete on a team of lower classification.
2. A player may not participate against a particular school in more than one official classification.
3. A player may move up from F/S or JV to Varsity for tournament play and return to the lower level . (5/27/04)
6. GAME
1. It is recommended that a team roster, including number(s) and position(s), for both Varsity, Junior Varsity and Frosh/Soph, is to be presented to opposing League coaches before each League match.
7. GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATIONS
1. Schools are obligated to compete on the date and at the time indicated on the official schedule, unless the two schools mutually agree to change. A Change of Schedule form must be completed. Schools cannot change date or time due to the unavailability of player(s). (5-22-97)
2. The chairperson for each division shall be selected by the division coaches. Each division chair shall also serve as the CCS Representative to the CCS Volleyball committee.

8. All League Awards
1. Varsity and F/S or JV will receive 8 1st and 2nd team awards. In addition the Varsity will receive the following special awards: MVP, SR.,JR.,SOPH.,Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year. (5-25-00)
